Evaluation of our programmes

Our first year was one of managing transition from disparate national activities to a single national focus and approach.

At the same time we will reach out to more people within the NHS and NHS funded services, building and expanding on the successful leadership work already underway.

In the next three to five years we will have succeeded if we:

  • Have professionalised leadership with a single, recognised, consistent approach to leadership built in to career development
  • Have developed leaders who have more breadth, are more innovative and more able to lead health services to fit the context and environment
  • Have supported industrial levels of innovation and improvement as part of an international community of innovators
  • Have worked in partnership to make NHS leaders more representative of the communities and workforce they serve

We will also continually work to demonstrate the impact of leadership development on the NHS and the way it transforms the services it provides to patients.
