Launch of the NHS College of Leadership and Management

Introducing the NHS College of Leadership and Management

The NHS Leadership Academy (the Academy) is now part of the NHS College of Leadership and Management (the College).
The College will be the national home for NHS leadership, management, and talent excellence. It will build on the strong foundations of the Academy and existing leadership communities.

What will the College do?

The College will bring a more rigorous and consistent approach to leadership, management and talent development across the NHS, supporting the ambitions of the 10 Year Health Plan and its leaders and managers to meet those challenges.

What will happen to the Academy?

Our direction of travel is that while the Academy will cease to exist in its own right, its existing programmes, resources and networks will inform the work of the College and evolve to meet the needs of leaders and managers into the future.
New products will appear under the College name but there will be a period of transition where some programmes and services continue under the Leadership Academy name. Over time, the expectation is that all leadership and management development offers will be brought together under the College name.

How will the move impact current users of Leadership Academy products?

Current users of Academy programmes and services can continue to access their learning and development materials as before. Existing Academy IDs, used to log into learning accounts, will become profile IDs.
Holders of Academy IDs will receive an email informing them of this change.

What happens next?

Academy programmes and services will gradually move across to the College.  Any changes will be carefully managed and communicated with users and stakeholders.
The focus will remain on providing high-quality development support and ensuring a positive experience for learners, participants, sponsors and NHS organisations.
