The Student Leadership Ambassador Scheme is run in collaboration with the NHS Leadership Academy and key higher education institutions.
The scheme consists of three elements:
1. Formal leadership development through parts 0 and 1 of the Edward Jenner programme
2. Peer support and action learning sets with other students taking part
3. The opportunity to put learning into practice by setting a goal, working towards it and keeping a reflective log.
The learning objectives of the scheme are:
- Facilitate the development of leadership knowledge, skills and behaviours among pre-registration healthcare students, through a programme of education and support
- Invest in the development of healthcare students who are aspirant future clinical leaders.
- Promote leadership development for all healthcare students by encouraging SLAs to use their local influencing channels to develop leadership content of their pre-registration programmes, and provide peer support for leadership development in their programmes.
- Increase knowledge, uptake and use of NHS leadership development resources (e.g. Edward Jenner programme)
- Build a network of partners regionally and locally to influence student leadership development.
If your university is a local host you will be able to take part in the Student Leadership Ambassadors Scheme with them.
These are the current host universities enrolled on the Scheme:
- University of Central Lancashire
- Sheffield Hallam University
- University Keele
- University of Leicester
- University of Huddersfield.
